We all are aware of the fact that everyone’s hair is different, it’s part of what makes us who we are! Whether it’s thick and wavy or thin and straight; there’s a reason for your hair being how it is and we’re going to figure out why.
What gives hair its color?
Hair color completely depends on the types of pigment that exists in your body. There are two kinds of pigment: melanin and carotene.
Melanin is dark brown in color and carotene is reddish-yellow and all hair color is determined by the amount you have of both. So you can blame it on your parents if you are not happy with your natural coloring because it all lies in your genes!
Understandably, the more melanin in your hair, the darker it will look. You might have blonde hair when you were a baby, but as you grow the amount of melanin your body produces tend to change.
As you grow old, your body starts making less melanin resulting in your hair losing color and eventually turning grey.
What makes my hair curly?
Again, your hair being curly or straight depends on your genes, but researchers aren’t 100% sure as to what aspect of your body influences that behavior.
There are some proposed theories, so take a look and cast your vote!
- Shape of your hair follicle.
- Amount of twists (while growing)
- Medication and Hormones
- Hair bulb’s position in the follicle
What dictates hair’s thickness?
The thickness of your hair solely depends on the size of your individual hair follicles. Larger hair follicles give birth to thicker strands of hair and the ones with smaller hair follicles end up having thinner hair.
Hair would end up looking thicker if you have more hair. If you have a lot of hair follicles on your scalp (or any other part of your body) then more will be your hair growth.
Heredity plays an important rule when it comes to your hair growth and if you want to get rid of it, there are different options that can you choose.
Shaving is a technique but again if you have thick, dark hair, the regrowth will be thicker and quicker every time you shave. This is not much of a problem if you have thin and light hair, as the look and feel tends to be less harsh.
The same logic can be applied in case of depilatory creams – the reason being that the root of the hair isn’t as affected as in case of waxing.
The most useful and long-lasting technique of hair removal is waxing. It gets rid of all the hairs from the root and give you results that stay with you for up to 28 days – again, depending on the type of your hair and the body part you are targeting.
Veet Cold Wax Strips come with Easy Grip allows you to master your own expert technique when it comes to removing hair from the roots in one go.
